I met David at South Pacific health club in 2008 when I started there as a trainer. It was my very first day, and I introduced myself to him, and I said, “I’m just getting to know some of the members,” to which he replied, “Okay, sit down.” He told me about him trading with the Australian Davis Cup team, then playing squash, the marathons he ran, his multiple university degrees, and how many times he failed.
Over the years, we grew to know each other better and had countless conversations inside and outside the gym. I’ll never forget the time David invited me to his home in Ripponlea when I was struggling with a personal issue. He was always there to offer wisdom, guidance, and support.
I’ve passed on so much of his knowledge that he passed on to me over the years, along with a short story about the man who taught me. He was a great man; it was a privilege to not just learn from him but just to have met him. R.I.P David.

I have been meaning to thank you Indra for giving me the opportunity to watch the memorial service for David. I have watched it twice myself and forwarded it on to other friends who were acquainted with him.
While Henny was my friend from school days, I was happy for her when she partnered with David and I observed the happiness they brought to each other.
The service reflected many details of David that I was not familiar with and I am greatly appreciative of getting to know him better.
My congratulations to you and Eric for your brilliant contributions to a moving and excellent service.
